American Robin

American robin (1)

Turdus migratorius

This summer I practiced photographing birds in the trees. My only, and first, experiences photographing birds have been at bird feeders and through a window in the winter. The photos have been wonderful, but I wanted to photograph birds in the summer, outside. Lighting, again, was the problem. But the basics are important: keep your back to the sun so that your subject is not backlit. And that is how I got this photograph of this robin in the apple tree on July 30. The morning sun makes the robin glow with bright colors.

  1. Great shot of the robin! I've been practicing the same thing but so far I've not taken a photo this good! Yesterday I tried to photograph a male cardinal in our crabapple tree. The cardinal did not feel like cooperating. Sure hope he comes back!
