Phlox subulata

Native to eastern woodlands, this perennial is a colorful ground cover that grows over rocks. I photographed this early in the morning when the dew was still on the blossoms. Photographed in New Hampshire.

This butterfly or, more likely, moth was on my phlox Sunday, August 5. This photo is blurry but I like the curled antennae. They were not curled when the butterfly was on the flower as seen here.
