False Solomon’s Seal

Solomon's Seal and False Solomon's Seal are confusing plants. They are identical except for the leaf placement on the stem and the flowers: Solomon's Seal's leaves are alternate and False Solomon's Seal's leaves are opposite. I observed at solomonsseal.net that the flowers, and thus, the berries, of False Solomon's Seal are at the end of the stalk. True Solomon's Seal will have berries along the length of the stalk because that is where the flowers bloom. False Solomon's Seal is in the Lily family. You can eat the false berries but they taste awful. Do not ever eat the true Solomon’s Seal's berries. They are poisonous.
