Yellow Bedstraw. I Think.

Yellow bedstraw

Galium verum
We think this is yellow bedstraw. The plant is young and seems to hint at developing leaves that will form a whorl. The blossom is exactly how Wildflowers of  Vermont describes (he book is out of print but you can get one used). But Field Guide to Wildflowers calls yellow bedstraw Galium vernum and does not have a photograph. The description matches, but photos on the Internet show four petals, not four lobes on the flower. Google returns the same search for both names. Wikipedia only returns vernum. We think this is yellow bedstraw but if you know differently, please leave a comment.
