Melilotus albaThis clover grows very tall and spindly. The flower is different than we expect with clover: this blossom looks like a pea blossom. All clovers are in the pea family (which I didn't know until tonight!). Farmers use sweet white clover as a rotation crop to replace the nitrogen in the soil of their fields. It smells sweet when mowed. I found this plant growing in Sutton on July 13, by the road, when I stopped to try to photograph a hawk. I never got a good shot of the hawk. But I got this one of the clover.
