When we were out snowshoeing we came to the crab apple tree. We popped a couple of the frozen berries in our mouths. They were delicious when we punctured the icy skin. They quickly turned to the expected bitter crab apple taste, which was when we spat them out. They were wonderfully refreshing. Try it! They wild turkeys leap into this tree to eat the apples, too.
