A Bumblebee on Red Clover

Bumblebee on red clover (3)

Red clover (Trifolium pratense) is the State Flower of Vermont. I haven't even begun to learn the different species of bumblebees, but they are in the genus Bombus.

PhotoHunt: Foreign

Polygonum cuspidatum

A bee on Japanese Knotweed, a foreign invasive brush that is very prevalent in New Hampshire. I have even seen it cultivated here. The insects love the blossoms in late summer. This was taken in the summer of 2009.

Thank you for visiting.

Bumblebee on Sunflower

This bee was so weighted down with pollen that he had to clean it off of his body (which I observed him doing!). I have entered this photo, as sized here, in the Tamron 2009 Macro Photo Contest which ends October 31, 2009. There are some tremendously wonderful macros in this contest but I do have a chance! You can see this photo in the contest album by clicking here.
