On our way home from blueberry picking, I spied this hawk. I got over two hundred shots of him, which thrilled me. He allowed me to come quite close. All of the photos can be seen in my
Red-tailed Hawk Flickr Set. When clicked, this photo will open, full size, in a new window.

What a beautiful bird and shot. I love the raptors. Our valley is a winterover area for raptors, including eagles also Snow Geese and Trumpter and Tundra Swan. So the valley is teeming in winter. My husband who I cared for the last 4 years (well all our married life) of his life loved the birds too. Everyday we would go down to the valley and see what we could see. Now when I am on a lonely road all by myself and see a red-tailed hawk on a wire I just know it is him keeping a watchful eye on me.
