A white-breasted nuthatch finds something to eat in my bird tree, which, as you can see, has been throughly checked out by the woodpeckers. I hope this is odd enough. I had never seen a nuthatch dig something out of the tree before (the bark was flying but I missed those shots). When clicked, these photos will open, full size, in a new window. Oh this is FABULOUS! I LOVE these birds! I see them a lot!
ReplyDeleteIf I didn't know better I'd think this little nuthatch was confused about which way was up -:)
ReplyDeleteWonderful image!!
hi Chuck! nuthatches go down trees head first, which is great fun to watch. they are so quick and nimble. Thank you for dropping by!
ReplyDeleteThey are very cute little guys. They must have strong little claws! (Do tiny ones have 'talons'? It seems the wrong word.)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great picture of the nuthatch who wanted to be a skydiver!!! You've shot this at just the right moment in time - and your explanation about the woodpeckers explained why the tree looked as if it had been drilled!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo. This is what I say beeing in the right place at the rigt time and with great sense of opportunity!
ReplyDeleteNice photos and I see a Sap Sucker has been there working on the tree.
ReplyDeleteOkay, were you standing on my porch? I'm quite sure that is my tree and my nuthatch...it looks so familiar...you're sure? Okay then, if you say so...great picture of the little bandit, I must say!

Great captures of a little bird that lives in a state of perpetual motion.

ReplyDeleteExcellent shots. Very clear. Very odd - a nose diving bird!

These are great pictures! Isn't it fun to see something you've never seen before!
ReplyDeletePerhaps he was cleaning up the woodpecker's leftovers. Odd of him to do that.
