Jack-in-the-pulpit

Jack-in-the-pulpit (Arisaema triphyllum)-9.jpg
Arisaema triphyllum

This was growing by the brook that goes through the back yard. There were others, too, but they were not blooming this day. Unfortunately, we had too much rain, the book overflowed its banks, and all the jack-in-the-pulpit was washed away. Now I won't be able to documents its life cycle.

  1. I remember these from when I lived back east. Such interesting shapes. And I particular like the black stripes in this example.

That's unfortunate how they all washed away by the brook flooding.

  2. Yes, it was a bad thing to find when they washed away. But at least the flood didn't reach the house. So there is always a silver lining. Last year, it did and the flash flood was all over the property. John's work has regraded the land and improved the flow of the brook. Maybe the flowers will come back next year.

Thank you for stopping by, Cat!

  3. Thank you, Sandy. I enjoy finding their fruit in the woods later in the summer, too.
