A Common Redpoll in a Snowstorm

Common Redpoll 16.jpg
Carduelis flammea

Redpolls are finches that breed in Alaska and Quebec. They come to my house for the winter. They only come to the feeders during snowstorms and they love thistle seed. They come in flocks of twenty or more birds. Some have very bright red breasts and some don't. I know we are in the dead of winter when the redpolls are here.
