These are mycelial strands of a woodland fungus growing on a log. The actual mushroom is the fruit of these mycelials and not the plant as you would expect. These strands are the plant of the mushroom. We kicked the bark off of a rotting log to find these. In the Mycelial Strand Set you can see what other mycelials look like.
