Camera Critters: Swimming Salamanders

Please forgive my indulgence for posting six photos. But I love these gentle creatures. These red-spotted salamanders (or newts?) were captured during the fifth and sixth grade aquatic insect and crustacean expedition (other creatures can be seen here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here — whew!). After the tramping, I sat with my Canon and experimented photographing into aquariums that held the specimens. I think the salamanders look so dinosaur-like when they swim. 1. I LOVE salamanders and lizards. I used to have a salamander in my aquarium, but he refused to stay in there. He would climb out while I wasn't home and make a long journey through the house and to the bathtub! I would find him and put him back in the aquarium, as I lectured him the whole way. hehe
