My pussy willows (all wild, none are cultivated) are all blooming. The catkins are not the showy flowers of spring, but are muted and gentle. During this week of death and memories, the pussy willows sustain me with their special version of flowering life and renewal. Pussy willows grow everywhere here in very wet soil, which I have because I live in an area of underground spring water that bubbles to the surface nearly everywhere. Go here to read more about the American Pussy Willow and go here to see the most fantastic photographs of the catkins that can be seen anywhere.
This is a beautiful poem and an equally beautiful photo. When I think of adorning, I think of draping, of placing beautiful raiments on a beloved. I hope the memories that come to you this week bring you peace. God bless.

What a lovely poem to adorn this utterly exquisite photo. I'm sorry that you have experienced a death this week. My prayers go out to you.
ReplyDeleteThat photo is simply spectacular. I have adored willows since I was a child, I have no idea why. Your poem was lovely also. But in your description the line "During this week of death and memories, the pussy willows sustain me with their special version of flowering life and renewal." so moved me. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThese are also a favorite of mine. My brother and I used run our hands over them on our way to school. Funny, we never picked them. They are truly soft and comforting. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem. Thanks for the link to the other catkin pictures-- they are remarkable.
ReplyDeleteThis is just lovely. I miss pussy willows.
ReplyDeleteMy sincere condolences, Andree. I was not aware you had a death. God Bless.
That photo is simply spectacular.
ReplyDeleteAnd the poem just great!
Beautiful. Beautiful. My favorite - had a child who called them 'wallypusses'!

ReplyDeleteThe poem is so fitting for the picture.
ReplyDeleteThis spring image is as wonderfully beautiful and the turkey vulture is ugly. What a contrast! Great posts this week.

Sorry to be so late in visiting … I’m trying to catch up today with OSI before all else. These pussywillow blossoms resemble caterpillars to me. Lovely photo and haiku! I’m glad I didn’t miss out ;--)
ReplyDeleteI also enjoyed your 'beaver' and 'bird' photos so much! Thanks for sharing.
Hugs and blessings,
Your photo captures the "gray, green and yellow" beautifully!
