January Thaw

The high temperature today was over 50°F (10°C) but I managed to still keep some snow on the roof. Last week the temperatures hovered around zero (-18°C) all day long. This is the back of the house. Garage roof on left. Kitchen window above the kerosene tank. Big empty rooms are straight ahead behind that wall between the garage and the kitchen.

I messed around with color with a photo of a red sunset. You can see the sunset on Friday. I enjoy the silhouettes of the trees here.

When clicked, these photos will open, full size, in a new window.

  1. Winter is a form of abstract art in its own right. Your rooftop photo is stunning. I admire the sunset. I often find myself admiring the shapes of leafless branches at that hour. Thanks for these wonderful images.

  2. For someone living in the desert, seeing something like the top picture must be mind boggling. The possibility of being buried by snow falling off the roof on you would be something they would never think of.

    Nice photograph to be sure.
