Nuthatches climb down trees headfirst.
The white-breasted nuthatch is the most familiar species of nuthatches.
These middle two photos were, for me, more comical, so I posted them.You can see the chestnut color on its belly here.
The nuthatch stays on or close to the ground while it visits me.I have not seen it go to the feeder. It stays underneath or on the tree.
