Earth and water fuse
As frost leaves the ground —
Cars sunk in mud are stranded
Mud season has started. This is a view of a portion of my driveway late this morning. If you visited earlier, I had a different photo (same poem). This is more appropriate.

Andrée, the link you left on OSI returned an error message...
ReplyDeleteGood think you left the link at Teri's otherwise I would have missed this. It seems that water and earth conspire against the cars. Which they really should if they know what's good for them.
Mud, muck and mire. that's what earth and water make. Or mud pies for sale. MB
ReplyDeleteThe earth and water are quite a team, especially during the thaw! I hope this is not a page from your life, Andree, and that your car is above ground! This is a wonderful piece.

What would earth be like without water. I suppose impossible.
ReplyDeleteYour photography is nice to look at.

"as frost frees the ground..." I've never thought of it that way. Nice.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, the fifth season in New England-Mud Season!
ReplyDeleteLove this, Andree! Mud means Spring! Yea!! :D
ReplyDeleteHappily, I cannot identify with this one this year, but oh how very on the mark!
ReplyDeleteYour ku really sinks in here!
ReplyDeleteThere is an abundance of good ole clean mud everywhere in the northeast.
My husbands old car has been parked off the driveway for over five years. It sinks deeper into the mud every spring! For some reason, he will just not let it go!
I may get the courage and rescue it soon.
i had to laugh at this...as a northern born southern transplant, i must admit i do not miss that one bit!
ReplyDeleteNever did I think I could laugh at mud season...but your poem made me chuckle.
ReplyDeleteGood luck getting out of there! Great picture/poem combo.

It's like nature and human incubrances don't mix, and nature is going to win. So wonderful said.

ReplyDeleteI guess it must feel quite ironic that being sunk in mud is all a part of the hope of spring!
ReplyDeleteLoved this!

I love the way you share your haiku as part of the photograph! I need to learn more about how to do this effectively myself.
