This photo of Jay Peak was taken on Thursday morning at 10 AM at an elevation of 530 feet (161.5 meters). The wind chill at the time I took the photo: -31°F (-35°C); actual temperature -4°F (-20°C). Jay Peak is at 3858 feet (1176 meters). I can imagine what the wind chill was like up there. The cloud that you see there isn't. It is blowing snow. (Same text, different photo from
yesterday's post on the main blog,
meeyauw.)

That is a beautiful sight! Just out of curiosity I googled to see the altitude of Georgia's highest mountain and it's 4784. I was surprised!
ReplyDeleteThere is a young lady hiker missing up there and I'm afraid she's been murdered. That is in the area where the Appalachian Trail begins.
Okay. I've spent the day working on an origami presentation of which Mount Fuji is the centerpiece. This little hill blows that silly mount away. How beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful....nothing to say but beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMighty and beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, beautiful.

Come Swanning with me
What a beautiful sight!
ReplyDeleteEven if it was not such beautiful scenery, the sheer dimensions would make this photo awesome. :) Amazing creation we were given to live on.
ReplyDeleteMade me shiver! It's a cold night here, so off to put on the central heating!
ReplyDeleteBrrrrrrrrrrh!
ReplyDeleteI can both see and feel the cold - beautiful!
The mountains blend nicely with the clouds - it looks like clouds even if it's not.
ReplyDeleteThis is very beautiful, a great shot! The blowing snow lookd like a cloud, Thanks for sharing the details!
ReplyDeleteI was going to say that it's a beautiful picture, but it's too bad the haze blocks the mountain, - but then I read what you wrote below the picture - wow, that's amazing that it's all blowing snow! When I think of that it just makes the picture even better!
ReplyDeleteBeatiful, almost magic!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I thought that was a cloud on the mountain, until I read your explanation. It really must have been cold up there!
ReplyDeleteAmazing. I love the light touch of pink/lavender. And the contrast of the foreground to the mountain is beautiful. Your picture reminds me of a mountain I used to pass everyday to/from work in Alaska.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! And it looks really super cold! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your nice comments on my blog. :)
Wow! That is a super shot!
ReplyDeleteMan, that was a cold day. Could you actually feel yourself pressing the shutter? That is a job well done, to say the least. Thanks for some brilliance. God bless.
