Birding Is Over

Birding at my bird feeder tree is over because of this robin-sized predator. Everyone has disappeared. The snow is unbroken now. No silly red squirrels, no chattering chickadees. They know how bad this pretty bird is. He appeared about 3 PM on January 21, 2008. For more details, see Northern Shrike on my main blog.

  1. I love its expression.

  2. I've only seen these in books.. I did not realise just how small they are, or for that matter how beautiful. I know of their reputation mind. I would still be very pleased to catch a sighting of the strange bird with nasty habits.
Thanks for the picture and the link to more.

  3. Geez, how did you get him to look at the camera? Ha! Great post!

  4. One great capture.

  5. I have never seen these before...and I had no idea they would kill other birds. I am anxious to hear....did your other birdies come back??
