That is a sweet picture of a Downey Woodpecker. I really like it on that tree.
I hope you like the bungee cord idea. I have noticed it also attracks squirrels to it but then can only nibble through the wire baskets and I don't mind anyway.
We have Tufted titmice, Downey woodpeckers, Red-breasted Nuthatches and White-breasted Nuthatches, Red-bellied Woodpeckers, and several different kinds of sparrows who take a bite now and then.
I saw a large Red-bellied Woodpecker on the same tree this morning sticking it long tongue out to taste a piece of stale bread. Never seen them do that before.
I have never seen a Downy woodpecker....we have the smaller looking one which is a Hairy woodpecker. We've named the male Harry and the female Harriet :) This is a FANTASTIC Shot!!!
What a great Woodpecker and Tree too. love it.
ReplyDeleteI hope to get a picture of a woodpecker one day. Your's is a really good shot!
