This little guy has been fishing the beaver ponds from drowned trees and electric wires. He's a riot to watch with his wild crest and his incessant chatter. Kingfishers are very common here even though they are "widespread but not numerous" according to the National Wildlife Federation bird book. Their summer range is Canada and far northern United States. When clicked, these photos will open, full size, in a new window. I managed to photograph another belted kingfisher, last summer, and got its beautiful breast feathers.
Thank you for visiting.
