Before this fern was even a fiddlehead, I have been observing its growth. I'm not ready to venture what species of fern this is yet, but I am halfway to an identification. For now — here is the newly developed spore of this fern. In the second photo you can see the brown fuzz that covers the stalk. This is a fascinating fern and I look forward to posting its life cycle. When clicked, these photos will open, full size, in a new window.

These are great macros! Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sharon, great macro shots
ReplyDeleteMine in here Thanks
Wonderful shots. The spores are very interesting. I visited a nursery that was known for growing ferns and in their propagation house they had row after row of jars full of spore. It all looked like jars of cimmamon.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you are displaying some Emily Dickinson poetry. I studied English Literature and even in high school we were not exposed to American lit., so I have really little knowledge of US poetry. I guess I should make the study of it a summer project!
ReplyDeleteIntriguing submission for our S-day. Come and visit me and read my story about Sicily. :D
ReplyDeleteLovely close ups.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. :)

ReplyDeleteNice close-up shots and great idea for S.
ReplyDeleteVery unique photos for today’s post! I definitely need a new camera … but I need a new computer even more. I shared more of what I’ve been learning about Photoshop Elements today in my almost WW at Small Reflections.
